Nature

I was lucky to have grown up where I did. It was a small rural community of about 1,600 people, with our house on an acre of land overlooking both the city and the Pacific Ocean. On clear days I could see sixty miles up the coast past Malibu and at night, I'd sometimes watch the city lights of Los Angeles, Hollywood and Beverly Hills twinkling in the distance.

I spent as much time outside as I could, hiking in the hills, climbing trees, playing with my dog, running through fields of tall grasses and later, as a young falconer, training my red tail hawk.
